By 2050, almost three quarters of the world’s population will live in cities.

The best cities offer their residents a great quality of life – a vibrant and creative vibe with an appetite to debate and generate new ideas. Great public spaces that people enjoy, as well as safe walking, cycling, reliable and efficient transport are vitally important. Clean streets, quality affordable housing, great urban infrastructure and plenty of healthy trees and gardens also contribute significantly to making great urban spaces.  Meaningful jobs, sustainable markets and entrepreneurial opportunities, as well as our sense of connection to each other – young and old from diverse cultures, are what make our cities and towns fabulous places to live and thrive.

Based in Adelaide, the Australian Institute of Urban Studies – South Australia (AIUS-SA) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that exists to provoke rich conversation, deep discussion and rigorous debate about urban life in South Australia. The AIUS-SA is guided by a volunteer Board, the current members are.

Opportunities to participate in shaping the conversation, discussion and debate about urban life in South Australia, is offered through a range of forums, seminars, events and social media.
