By 2050, almost three quarters of the world’s population will live in cities.

The world’s best cities offer residents a great quality of life. Places with a rich cultural and creative vibe, an appetite for debate and new ideas and great public spaces that all residents can enjoy.

Places that support fulfilling interactions, strong social connections, meaningful work and creative business opportunities.

Safe walking and cycling, reliable and efficient transport, clean streets, quality affordable housing, creative business opportunities are also important.

Magnificent buildings and quality urban infrastructure that engender civic pride, with plenty of healthy trees and gardens to be immersed in nature.

Why would we settle for anything less?

Based in Adelaide, the Australian Institute of Urban Studies – South Australia (AIUS-SA) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that exists to provoke rich conversation, deep discussion and rigorous debate about urban life in South Australia.
